Each day you read in the newspaper about injuries and fatalities resulting from traffic accidents. How many of these are the result of driver error? How many accidents could be avoided?

As a 13 year police veteran and former South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy certified Driving Instructor, I have seen more heartbreak, damage, injuries, and lives lost from traffic collisions than I wish. The hard truth of the matter is that nearly all accidents result from poor driving technique, inattention, and improper training.

Having four grown children of our own, all currently driving, and nuerous grandchildren, the need for proper training and safety awareness really hits home. All drivers have a responsibility to each other to drive as safely as possible, following all traffic laws. It seems as though in this day and age, everyone is in such a hurry. Traffic in our area has become increasingly congested. It is easy to get caught up in the rat race and become careless.

My wife and I began the Lexington Driving Academy with the hope of being able to directly impact drivers in our community. If through proper training, one accident is avoided, one injury is averted, or one life saved, then this driving academy has been a worthwhile endeavor.

All of our instructors have passed a thorough background check and have been trained and certified in the techniques needed to properly teach driving to their students. More importantly, all of our instructors are parents of teen and grown children, and therefore can relate to the stresses parents face when teaching their teen to drive.

Our academy is certified and licensed and bonded by the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles. We are also certified by the American Automobile Association. We are a smoke/vape free enviroment for the health of our students and instructors.
